Halloween is a great holiday...if you are still in school. For some reason we love to help our children dress up, but then we just laugh if they suggest we wear a costume too. And why is that? Halloween is the only day of the year when you are encouraged to dress up and take on a new identity. No one judges you if you decide you want purple hair. No one gives you strange looks if you want to walk around in your pjs. It is our one day of freedom from the lives we have created for ourselves. We can live out a fantasy or just walk a day in someone else's shoes. Okay, so I chickened out and didn't wear a costume last night. But maybe next year I will be brave enough to put on a costume and walk a few blocks in a different pair of shoes.
